This one in many ways sums up a lot of how I parent. I’m always, always looking ahead asking how will this play out in their future?
If you can’t do it later you can’t do it now
From way back when my girls were young I taught them if what they were doing wasn’t going to be allowed they couldn’t develop the habit now.
Here are a few examples. When they were little and they started hitting each other when they were mad I told them they would get in big trouble when they were adults…like an assault charge.
If they ask me to pay for something at the store and they plan on paying me back when we get home they need to do it right away without me asking for it. Being responsible with money is a must! Later in life if you don’t pay your bills you could lose your house, your car and even your friends if you borrow money from them….that’s just a bad idea all the way around. Manage your money well!
So, always think ahead and don’t develop habits you will someday have to break.
Much love! -Teresa
